On the fly-fishing side, Africa First offers guided experiences at some of Southern Africa’s most renowned freshwater destinations. We are proud to introduce anglers to South Africa’s indigenous yellowfish—one of the country’s most exciting freshwater game fish. Often mistaken for carp, yellowfish are powerful, challenging, and highly rewarding to target on fly, with sight-fishing using dry flies being one of the most exhilarating experiences an angler can enjoy.
Of the nine yellowfish species found in South Africa, the Smallmouth and Largemouth Yellowfish are the most sought after by fly anglers. Africa First specialises in guiding clients to these remarkable fish in world-class waters, including Douglas, the Lower Orange River, Sterkfontein Dam, Vanderkloof Dam, and Gariep Dam.
For those seeking an even greater challenge, we also offer specialised Tigerfish expeditions on the mighty Zambezi River in Zambia, providing anglers with the opportunity to pursue one of Africa’s most iconic freshwater predators.
